Looking for research I came across something very interesting, it may have been from before the Expense Scandal, but it has been said that the Mp’s allowance when it comes to furnishing their second homes has been classed as the John lewis list. Now i’ve always seen this paticular store as not too extremem in pricing, however it’s not exactly your basic essentials.

This supermarket appeal sparked some interesting visuals for me. It’s almost as if these MP’s are allowed a free shopping spree around the store, as long as they stay under the limit! Also classed as ‘the going rate’ for second home allowances. However what they claim for, can be very bizzare as I’ve found in general research. This idea lead me to be reminded right back to when I was little (and before my time) – The Generation Game. Anyone remember that? At the end of the show, the contestants would have a conveyer belt in front of them and they’d have to remember as many items as possible. Amusingly enough, in my mind I can visualise an MP sat behind the belt, a mixture of items both bizarre and essential passing by; and the MP happening to only remember the items that were far from essential! And just as an example…a chocolate Santa perhaps, or elephant engraved lamps?

Another blast from the past; Only if the ‘Price is Right’!
