This is my final poster design, it’s based on teenagers and their struggle with literacy. I noticed advertising for both adults and children through my general research, however few for teenagers. Overall I like the final design, there are things that I would of had differently, but that’s down to my experience and knowledge on Photoshop. To begin with I struggled to pin down one idea that would work best for my poster, I created one for Dyslexia that was typography based; but the execution of my idea was not working, so i explored other ideas. i focused more on the emotive response of advertising through facial expressions and eye contact. I experimented with using just the face as the poster however taking my own photographs weren’t strong enough to use. Which is where i deferred from my ideas and thought outside my original research and sparked the idea of focusing the poster on teens.

With teenagers as my basis, I decided to use the stereotypical teenager idea that ‘live’ the urban streets. I used a background of a brick wall as an alley way scene with type that blends into the wall as if it were painted or chalked onto the wall. The male in the poster is slightly hidden in the shadows, a reflection of how he feels. The light is shining on the words rather than him. Below the words, I named the character to give an identity to him, this allows the audience to connect better and feel for him considering ‘what if it was their son?’ Incorporating factual information into the poster helps people to understand the seriousness of the situation and get the meaning across quicker. At the bottom my use of colour on the word ‘Donate’ draw the audience’s attention to that, they then can quickly donate money by texting which means no phone call, or visiting the website; the donation simply adds onto their mobile phone bill – easy and simple.
