The latest project for me in Vis Com is called Visual Thinking. The brief is in connection with a charity called The National Literacy Trust. The aim is to help promote the company through the mediums of a poster that will alert people about the charity, and a second dimension and form of advertising which asks for people to donate money; what the second dimension happens to be is to be determined by me.

One person in six in the UK struggles to read and write. Poor skills compromise health, confidence, happiness and employability.

The National Literacy Trust is an independent charity that works to transform the lives of those that struggle with literacy and help those who help them. Their slogan is ‘Transforming Lives’ which happens to very exactly what they do. They devote their time and money to help all ages of people with all types of backgrounds from children, to adults. A quite from the charity, “We believe that literacy transforms lives, and that with better literacy, everyone can succeed in life. Society will only be fair when everyone can communicate as well as they need. With better literacy skills a greater number of people will have the opportunity to contribute more to society”. They work with schools to help build a better foundation for children to learn the skills they need to do well in life. they also get involved with communities that need help. They work hard to ensure that literacy support is available to all who need it. Their networks provide advice and resources to teachers, librarians, early years settings and other literacy professionals, in order to support the literacy skills of children, young people and adults. Not forgetting they campaign to improve public understanding of the vital importance and impact of literacy. They aim to raise awareness of the vital importance of literacy and ensure the Government takes action.

I look forward to looking into ways of how to promote the charity to prompt people to donate money towards a worthy cause such as the National Literacy Trust who are making the world a better place.
