Spatial Typography These are the two books I have brought for my Spatial Typogrography Project. I brought two different shapes of book so that I could try the experiment on both to see which one works best. I’m unsure as to how I would cover the writing on the first book, maybe I don’t need […]

Spatial Typography These photographs are of my experiment with placing a letter inside two pages of the book, however rather than it casting a shadow on the next page, I found with the right light angle the letter became visible.

Spatial Typography As part of my critique, it was suggested that I try to cast a shadow of the letters onto the next page by either placing a letter in between two pages or using varnish and then shining the right type of light through the page. However on both experiments I have struggled to […]

Spatial Typography Artist Research With the use of simple shapes Kumi Yamashita also experiments with shadow and the visual tricks that can be created. Kumi focuses more on shapes rather than typography, but the time and effort that must have gone into these to get the perfect shapes is incredible. It’s almost unbelievable that someone […]

Spatial Typography Above is an experiment of gluing two pages together with a thick letter inside. Then with something small defining the shape of the letter with the page. It’s almost like an embossing style.

Spatial Typography These are some images form further experimentation with my secret type hidden within a library book. In my first experiment, I discovered an interesting effect of shadowing that the letters had created. So here I have expanded upon that idea and looked further into how I could acheive that. I’d previously decided to […]

Spatial Typography Above are a selection of experiments I’ve tried. The first is of a letter than when opened it reveals half of the letter, I put it inside a small book just to demonstrate that that’s how it would go but in a much larger book. The second experiment was pop-up type which i […]
