This video was the result of a one day brief, of exploring type through tape! We chose an area on campus that contained a row of pillars located in the lunch area, where it would get reasonably busy. Using the pillars seemed perfect, as we could create something quite interesting in perspective. Assigned in our group, we worked really well together, taking it in turns to snap pictures for the stop-motion/ putting up the tape. It took a lot of communication from the camera to the pillars in order to get the letters lined up perfectly. Our simple choice of word; EAT was the resemblance to the busy lunch area. The camera was purposely set up to capture the people inside the cafe and not forgetting the word itself! Our original choice of colour was actually yellow for its ability to stand out, but instead we settled for blue as it was the only colour left. As the word also carried on to the wall, it’s unbelievable how big it actually had to be to look reasonable on the camera. This unfortunately led to us running out of blue tape! Which changed the final outcome entirely as we couldn’t then get the exact same tape to finish it off which meant the ‘A’ of ‘eat’ was completed with some much thinner and lighter blue tape that didn’t stick! and The ’T’ was created with black. It’s a shame it we couldn’t finish it how we intended because it would of looked fantastic, but otherwise what we did manage is still a great team effort and still successful in itself!
